WESLEY CHAPEL - Something unique happened at Tuesday's Class 1A-District 9 boys golf tournament.
Every golfer who competed at Saddlebrook's Palmer Course advanced to Monday's regionals.
"It's crazy," Wesley Chapel coach Alan Black said. "It's probably unheard of."
The district has only four teams: Wesley Chapel, Saddlebrook Prep, Academy at the Lakes and Carrollwood Day School. The three top teams advance, as do three individuals not on those teams - the three players at Carrollwood.
Saddlebrook took the district title, shooting a 307 and led by Alex Bensahel, who took the individual title with a 2-over 73. Wesley Chapel was second (343) and Academy was third (419).
Adam Chowdahri kept the Spartans' score down with a 74, while favorite Seokil Kim struggled and carded an 80.
Wesley Chapel got good scores from Jacob Fleck (76) and Brandon Mumaw (78), while Academy's top golfer, senior Jason Giglio, shot a 102 to advance to his first regional tourney.
