NEW PORT RICHEY - By accounts from family and co-workers, Lynda McAdams and William "Ryan" Andrews are responsible adults who don't go days without contacting family and friends. And they don't skip out on work.
So when the pair seemingly vanished Sunday, loved ones got worried and now the Pasco County Sheriff's Office is seeking assistance from the public in locating them.
McAdams, 46, of 17928 Palomina Lake Drive in Dade City, and William R. Andrews, 37, of 7128 Cedar Crest Road in New Port Richey, are co-workers who are involved in a relationship, Kevin Doll, Pasco Sheriff's Office, spokesman said today. Detectives don't know if they are together, he said. Relatives are assuming they are.
McAdams is 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 140 pounds, has long reddish hair and wears glasses. Andrews is 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 165 pounds and has short brown hair.
Andrews drives a silver Toyota Tundra with Florida license plate W391ZV.
McAdams, Doll said, is going through a divorce but no such filings were found in Pasco County Circuit Court. Michael McAdams, her husband, could not be reached for comment.
Andrews spent part of the weekend celebrating his father's birthday at his home near Ocala. His stepmother was the last one to speak with him after he returned home about noon Sunday, his sister-in-law Emily Andrews said today. McAdams last spoke with one of her two daughters about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
Attempts to reach them by telephone have failed as their cell phones don't appear to be working, authorities said.
Andrews' brother, Clayton, went to his house after finding out Wednesday he hadn't shown up for work. His truck was gone but nothing appeared to be packed up, Emily Andrews said. His razor was still there, as was his cell phone charger. He left a battery charging for his small boat because he planned on going fishing later Sunday, she said.
Emily Andrews, of Largo, said it "highly unusual" for her brother-in-law not to be in contact with the family for so long. The same goes for McAdams, said Doll. That's why authorities are concerned, he said.
Relatives are banding together to try to find the couple and working with Pasco detectives.
"We, ourselves, are very concerned," Emily Andrews said.
Andrews' relatives even drove from his home across the county along some dirt roads to McAdams home, checking to see if they might have had an accident along the way, Emily Andrews said. They've checked hospitals and have called friends and co-workers to no avail.
Darren Veneri, human resources director for Bic Graphics in Clearwater, said the pair works together in their St. Petersburg production facility. Co-workers became concerned when the longtime employees didn't return to work after the weekend.
"We're all worried over here, as you can imagine," he said adding that it all seems out of character. "We're all scratching our heads at this point."
Anyone with information about the couple may call the sheriff's office at 1-800-854-2862.
