LAND O' LAKES - Robert Smith, 43, whose son attends Land O' Lakes High School, was arrested Tuesday on a disorderly conduct charge after trying to fight with the school's principal, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.
Smith went to the high school Tuesday for a sit-down with the principal to talk about his son's suspension. But when Principal Ric Mellin told him he wasn't going to change the ruling on the suspension, the father became upset, the report states.
Smith started yelling and "bowed up" at Mellin wanting to fight, the report states. An assistant principal, who was also in the meeting, got between the two men. A deputy entered the room and saw Smith turn toward the assistant principal and say he was going to get him, according to the report.
Meanwhile, the front office staff heard the commotion and went into a safe room.
Smith was arrested on the misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. He was released from the Land O' Lakes Jail later Tuesday after posting $150 bail. He couldn't be reached for comment.
