It has been confirmed that the half-naked body of a little girl found in a trash dump was that of the missing 7-year-old, Somer Thompson.

Police are questioning the 75 registered sexual predators that live in the area (13 in the immediate neighborhood and 53,000 in the state.)

Read that last sentence again.

Every time a child is taken, the process is the same: "Interview" all the known pedophiles in the area, link the physical evidence of the crime with the particular sexual proclivities of the area's registered offenders, and hope for a break.

Is there anyone who didn't see this coming?

We are not a civilized society. We think we are civilized because liberal, pseudo-intellectuals have somehow convinced us that societal evolution is determined by the extent to which we afford rights and protections to the most depraved and despicable among us.

Most of us know this is insane. We recognize that our responsibility to protect our youngest, most innocent and most vulnerable - our children - far outweighs any academic, theoretical application of legal protections afforded to those who have "been there, done that before."

Even in the animal kingdom, poor dumb beasts know that there is no higher need than the protection of their young.
