The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is teaming up with Crime Stoppers to solve graffiti cases in the Lithia-Pinecrest area.
Investigators say vandals have twice targeted the new bridge on County Road 39 near Thompson Road. They say that each time it costs taxpayers hundreds of dollars for county crews to paint over the graffiti.
"They caused damage to our public property, and it's a monetary amount that has to be repaired," said Detective Brian Bryan.
Bryan said the graffiti does not appear to be gang-related.
This week, deputies went door-to-door passing out fliers in hopes that the public will help them solve the case. Also Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
Those with information on the graffiti should call 1-800-873-TIPS.
