Garbage collector is killed in crash

A garbage collector died Friday morning in Brandon when a car slammed into the back of the truck he was working on, pinning him between the two vehicles, Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies said.
Frederick Solomon, 34, of 1511 11th Ave. E., Bradenton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The fatal wreck involving a 1988 Toyota and the garbage truck owned by Republic Waste Services happened about 6 a.m. on Parsons Avenue near Coade Stone Drive.
Toyota driver Lloyd Cribbs Jr., 33, of 3904 Creek Woods Drive, Plant City was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries that did not appear to be life threatening.
No charges were immediately filed.
