TAMPA - Get ready to take a walk along the newest section of Tampa's Riverwalk.
Mayor Pam Iorio will be joined by business and community leaders at 10 a.m. Monday for the official opening of the new South Plaza segment of Riverwalk on the southwest corner of Channelside and Beneficial drives. Participants will be invited to stroll the Riverwalk to Cotanchobee Fort Brooke Park. The event is free and open to the public.
The Riverwalk's South Plaza is the start of a waterfront pedestrian corridor from the Channel District to the Brorein Street Bridge. It is a $2.1 million redevelopment project with land donated by Harbour Island Community Services Association and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
