TAMPA - Hillsborough County health and school officials are gearing up for swine flu vaccinations next week in several middle and high schools, though plans could change depending on availability of supplies.
Beginning Monday, teams of health department nurses will vaccinate students at East Bay, Freedom, King, Middleton and Spoto high schools, as well as Eisenhower, Giunta, Greco and Liberty middle schools.
Starting Nov. 2, the health department will staff after-school centers from 3:30 to 7 p.m. to vaccinate elementary pupils as well as students from charter schools, virtual schools and the district's education centers.
Elementary school pupils must have a parent or guardian present when they are vaccinated.
Students at exceptional centers began receiving the swine flu vaccination at their schools last week. Nurses vaccinated 266 students, 282 staff members and some parents.
The health department identified those students as the highest priority.
