KENNETH CITY - With less than seven minutes remaining against Dixie Hollins and his team in a rare position to win, Blake coach Harry Hubbard made an easy decision - he put the ball in the hands of one of his best offensive stars.
That decision helped the Yellow Jackets finally get their first victory of the season.
Clarence Peterson outleaped a Dixie Hollins defender for a deep pass at the 49-yard line and turned the reception into an 80-yard touchdown as Blake used 14 fourth-quarter points to earn the victory.
"I just felt we hadn't put the ball in the hands of one of our best playmakers and said to Peterson if the ball comes your way, you've got to go up and get it," Hubbard said.
Peterson's catch, coupled with Phillip Davis' 88-yard punt return TD erased what seemed to be an almost insurmountable 13-0 Dixie Hollins lead.
Blake (1-6) fell behind early when Cedric Williams, who carried on eight of the nine plays, fittingly capped the Rebels' opening drive by scoring from five yards out. Williams finished the game with 135 yards on 35 carries.
Rashad Johnson returned a fumbled snap 18 yards for a touchdown two possessions later to give the Rebels (0-7) a 13-0 lead that it carried into the decisive fourth quarter.
