TAMPA - Chamberlain scored two rushing touchdowns to defeat host Gaither on Friday night.
In the second quarter, the Chiefs showed their skills in spreading the field with a 95-yard drive that was topped off with Andra Hubbard's 7-yard touchdown run, and the first score of the night.
Gaither got on the board on the ensuing drive with the help of a one-handed, 24-yard catch by Jamal Allen, putting the Cowboys on the one-yard line. Gaither QB Zach Condon (12 of 19, 151 yards) scored on a one-yard run with 2:43 left before the half.
The Chiefs fumbled the opening kickoff of the second half, which Gaither recovered at Chamberlain's 36-yard line. But the Cowboys struggled in the red zone and failed to capitalize on the good field position.
Chamberlain put together another impressive drive (11 plays and 78 yards), highlighted by Blake Bell's 54-yard breakaway run that led to the final touchdown of the game.
Gaither gave Chamberlain a scare late in the fourth quarter after Condon connected with Allen on a 47-yard bomb that he took to the end zone. But that touchdown was called back due to an interference penalty and the drive ended when Condon was intercepted by a Chamberlain defender.
