PLANT CITY - Plant City's defense recorded its third consecutive shutout as the Raiders ran past Riverview.
Riverview (2-5, 0-2) drove strongly on its opening possession, taking the ball at its own 23 yard-line and chewing up six minutes, 50 seconds off the clock as it drove inside the Raiders 5.
Facing third-and-goal from inside the one, Plant City (5-3, 2-1) held as linebacker Jay Meyers came off the end to stop Sharks quarterback Jerid Heffers for no gain. The Sharks decided to try again, but this time Heffers was sacked for a loss of 9 yards as the Raiders held.
The Raiders took the lead in the second quarter as quarterback Bennie Coney found Lamartin Wiggins for a 15-yard touchdown pass, and Dazmond Patterson then extended the Sharks lead to 15-0 on a 57-yard touchdown run, Coney rushing in for the 2-point conversion. Patterson finished with 112 yards on 17 carries for the Sharks, while Wiggins caught five passes for 84 yards.
After their goalline stand in the first quarter, the Raiders defense held the Sharks to two yards rushing and 25 yards passing in the second half. Coney also threw his second touchdown pass of the game, finding Cortez Harrgett for a 37-yard strike.
