TAMPA - Sickles claimed a playoff berth for the second time in three years after routing Leto on Friday night, spoiling the Falcons' homecoming.

The Gryphons (6-2) shut down the Leto offense, allowing only one completed pass for the game. But it was the Gryphons offensive line that made the difference.

"We stacked about 1,000 pounds of beef on the line tonight," Sickles coach Pat O'Brien said. "It was a different strategy, but it made a big difference. The running game worked. We were able to knock them off the ball and that's how it worked."

Running back Carey White ran for 160 yards, most in the first half, and also scored two touchdowns. The Gryphons capitalized on Leto mistakes to turn the game into a rout in the second half. Leto slipped to 1-6 on the season.

"I am proud of this team," O'Brien said. "This means a lot to the program."

Sickles struck first when White scored on a 20-yard run off right tackle to give the Gryphons a 7-0 lead. The Leto defense held tight to keep it close until White scored again, this time from 12 yards in the second quarter. Andres Vasquez booted a 42-yard field goal to give the Gryphons a 17-0 halftime lead.
