BRANDON - Tampa Bay Tech overcame first-half struggles to rally from a 10-point deficit to defeat host Brandon.
Quarterback Jonathan Williams led the way for Tech (6-1) with 214 yards passing and three touchdowns. Maurice Hagens scored on a 10-yard run with 2:26 left in the third quarter. That score put the Titans up 30-10 and capped Hagen's superb night as he finished with 109 yards rushing.
Down 10-0 in the second half, the Titans scored twice in less than 5 minutes on C.J. Jackson's 74-yard touchdown reception and Williams' 6-yard touchdown run to take a 12-10 lead into the half. From that point it was all Tech as the defense shut down the Eagles (1-6) and the Titans went on to score 24 unanswered points.
Sean Watson, Brandon's three-way starter, accounted for all of the Eagles' points with a 45-yard field goal, a 27-yard touchdown reception and a 74-yard punt return for touchdown. He also recorded two interceptions.
"We were very undisciplined tonight," TBT coach C.C. Culpepper said. "We showed poor execution. I am very upset."
