SARASOTA - Tampa Catholic scored touchdowns on all four of its second-half possessions and six of its seven in the game to crush Cardinal Mooney in a Class 2B-District 5 game.
Senior running back Henry McCloud scored three touchdowns - a 52-yard run and a pair of 1-yard runs - while senior quarterback Christian Green scored twice on runs of 39 and 22 yards on consecutive carries as the Crusaders improved their record to 6-0 and 2-0 in the district.
The Crusaders led 14-3 at halftime, after a possible third touchdown drive was snuffed out by a McCloud fumble on first-and-goal at the Mooney 1 with three minutes remaining. It was the only possession on which Tampa Catholic did not score.
"We were a little bit sloppy in the first half, we made it tough on ourselves," said TC coach Bob Henriquez. "We had to be efficient in the second half and our playmakers did a better job."
McCloud ran for 116 yards on 12 carries as the Crusaders churned out 267 yards rushing and 397 total yards.
The only Cardinal Mooney (2-5, 0-3) points came on a 39-yard field goal by Porter Windom.
