About 3,500 customers in Polk County now have power, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said Sunday night.
Power was restored to the residents, including everyone in Polk City, at around 8:45 p.m., the sheriff's office said.
Lakeland Electric Co. customers had no power since this morning after a drunken driver hit a utility pole, authorities said.
The wreck that sparked the outage happened about 4 a.m. when a 2005 blue four-door Honda, driven by Luke J. Huber, 28, of Polk City, crashed into a pole near the intersection of County Road 33 and Old Polk City Road, a release from the sheriff's office states.
Huber, who suffered minor injuries in the crash, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence, a sheriff's office spokeswoman said.
