Two men were injured after a small plane crashed in rural Pasco County this afternoon.
The pilot and passenger, who sustained serious leg injuries, were flown by helicopter for medical treatment, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities have not identified the men and have not yet determined where the plane was coming from or heading to.
The plane crashed about 2:30 p.m. near Pilot Country, near U.S. 41 and State Road 52 in the Shady Hills area.
Pilot Country is a small aviation community in rural Pasco that consists of a short runway flanked by single-family homes and hangars.
The Federal Aviation Authority said the plane that crashed was a single-engine Piper aircraft. It crashed in field at the end of a runway, said Kathleen Bergen, a FAA spokeswoman said.
"No information of a fatality in that accident today," Bergen said.
The FAA will investigate the accident, she said.
This is the second small plane crash in Pasco in as many days.
On Friday, a fiery single-engine plane crashed in Zephyrhills, killing the pilot, a 46-year-old newly married mother and her 7-year-old daughter.
