LARGO - One Pinellas Sheriff's deputy received a written reprimand after it was discovered he was accused of bouncing a check, while another was suspended after starting an amorous relationship with a subordinate, according to Pinellas sheriff's documents released this morning.
Deputy Todd Amlin, who works as a detention deputy at the Pinellas County Jail, was arrested July 10 on a warrant accusing him of bouncing a $20.21 check. The worthless check charge was later dropped.
Another detention deputy at the jail, Thomas Sideris, was also punished. Sideris was busted down from corporal to deputy – and was suspended for 24 hours over a period of three days – after he started a relationship with a subordinate without telling his supervisors about it, as is required by policy, a memorandum says.
Sideris was also disrespectful toward a supervisor when asked about the relationship, and he was less than candid about the relationship also, the memorandum says.
