NOBLETON - A 75-year-old wheelchair-bound woman is in serious condition tonight after her electrical recliner caught fire, Hernando County Fire Rescue said.
The woman was sitting in the recliner at around 7:15 p.m. in her single wide mobile home, located at 29062 Friar St., said assistant fire Chief Frank Defrancesco.
The recliner caught fire and she suffered first- and second-degree burns on the lower and upper part of her body, Defrancesco said.
The woman's son found her in the mobile home and got her out, Defrancesco said.
She was taken to Citrus Memorial Hospital in Crystal River, where she's listed in serious condition, Defrancesco said.
Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze, but the fire doesn't appear suspicious, Defrancesco said.
The mobile home was a total loss, he said.
