TALLAHASSEE - Rick Trickett saw the payoff for his offensive linemen's conditioning during the offseason and fall during the second half of Saturday's win against North Carolina.
"In the middle of the third and fourth quarter, I could see our conditioning, our effort and quickness and the way we play - it was taking over," Trickett said. "The mental part of it. (North Carolina), they were huge.
"And we're going to get bigger. Everybody is worried about us. Those tackles are 290 and they are really redshirt freshmen if they were in a program exactly right. (Andrew) Datko and Zebrie (Sanders) would be redshirt freshmen. Next year they'll be 300-pound guys."
Trickett sees another good challenge in a North Carolina State defensive front that features DE Willie Young, who has seven sacks in seven games.
"They have an end that can bring it with anybody," Trickett said of Young.
CAZ TO HAVE SURGERY: Senior TE Caz Piurowski (Land O' Lakes) said he will have surgery Thursday to repair a torn ACL. Piurowski's FSU career came to an end during the Georgia Tech game when he injured his knee. He is hoping to be invited to the NFL Combine in February, when his knee can be examined and his progress observed by NFL scouts and personnel.
