TAMPA - A Pasco County construction company owner pleaded guilty Tuesday to federal fraud charges.
Rosa Barrett Herrera, 43, admitted carrying out a scheme that defrauded Tennessee-based Capital Plus Equity out of nearly $500,000. She faces up to 20 years in prison on mail and wire fraud charges but likely will receive a lower sentence under the terms of the plea agreement.
According to the plea agreement, Herrera used her business, Covenant Construction Unlimited, to defraud Capital Plus Equity by selling the firm phony invoices. Capital Plus gave Herrera financing for the invoices.
