HUDSON - The two Class 4A-District 7 semifinal matches mirrored each other.
No. 1-seeded Hudson and No. 2 Ridgewood advanced to tonight's championship and next week's region with three-game wins.
And both teams were tested in their respective third games.
Hudson got strong performances from Jessica Imbimbo and Shannon Zasloff to down Mitchell, 25-11, 25-16, 25-21, while the Rams got 16 kills from Sarangelys Cruz and 14 from Lauren Vanker to oust Pasco, 25-20, 25-12, 25-23.
"We're a good team," Hudson coach Shayna Munson said. "And that's probably the third or fourth time (struggling in the third game) it's happened where we've won the first two games. We were down 24-21 to Land O' Lakes and came back and won 26-24. Good teams are going to do that - they're going to come back."
That deciding game was tied nine times and every time, Mitchell (13-11) was able to regain the lead except when the Cobras (23-3) took a 21-20 lead and again at 22-21. But Hudson scored the final four points of the match.
With Pasco (9-15) up 23-20 in the third game, the Rams (19-7) scored the final five points with Sarah Blank serving to record the victory.
