TAMPA - Robinson rolled to an easy victory against first-year Steinbrenner, capturing the Class 2A-District 5 title. It is the Knights' first district title since 1977.
Robinson lead 22-0 after the first quarter and 50-0 at halftime. Robinson posted its third shutout of the season.
Running back J.J. Hubbard got Robinson off to a quick start with an impressive 49-yard touchdown run, finishing the game with seven carries for 76 yards.
Knights quarterback Blake Rice was 6-for-10 for 186 yards and four touchdowns. The longest play of the game was a 75-yard touchdown catch by Byron Pringle from Rice with 45 seconds left in the first half.
Playmaking speedster Frankie Williams caught two passes for 72 yards (51, 21), with both going for touchdowns.
Defensive lineman David Corley had the only sack for the Knights.
The one bright spot for the Steinbrenner Warriors was defensive linemen Amari Brown, who had two sacks.
The win improved Robinson to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in district play, while Steinbrenner, which plays a partial junior varsity schedule, is 0-5 overall and 0-5 in district play.
Robinson takes on first-year Strawberry Crest next week at home. Steinbrenner plays Lennard at home.
