ZEPHYRHILLS - Alphonso Blanch ran for 112 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries, all in the second half, to lead the Gulf Buccaneers to a 29-7 win against the Zephyrhills Bulldogs on Friday night.
The Bulldogs (1-7) opened the scoring midway through the first quarter on a 51-yard touchdown pass from Nick Trujillo to Jamal Roberts.
The touchdown came a play after a 20-yard fake punt run by Anthony Viernes on fourth-and-1.
Gulf (5-4) scored just before halftime on a 1-yard touchdown pass from Madison Burr to Tom Polito.
The Buccaneers could not convert the 2-point conversion, so the score was 7-6 at the half.
In the second half, Gulf dominated on both offense and defense.
Gulf ran for 153 yards and limited the Bulldogs to only 26 yards of total offense in the half.
The Buccaneers defense was led by David Ramirez, who intercepted two Zephyrhills passes and also scored on a 15-yard touchdown reception.
