TAMPA - The University of Tampa will hold a memorial service Sept. 13 for Ryan McCall, a student athlete shot to death last month during an off-campus robbery.
The service will be at 4 p.m. at the university's Pepin Stadium. If it rains, the service will be in the gymnasium of the Cass Building. The university is at 401 W. Kennedy Blvd.
McCall, 21, and a friend, Michael Harahan, were accosted Aug. 19 by an armed robber at the foot of the North Boulevard bridge over the Hillsborough River. Harahan, also 21, managed to run off and call for help, but McCall was fatally shot.
McCall was a senior majoring in exercise science and a member of UT's cross-country team. He planned to pursue a career in teaching and coaching. No arrest has been made in his slaying.
