TAMPA - Blake's Jamario Nobles took the opening kickoff 90 yards to give the Yellow Jackets an early lead, but King's Cedric Young ran for two touchdowns and quarterback Greg Windham threw for a pair of scores to lead King to victory over Blake.
King (1-0) had taken a 7-6 lead when Young rushed for an 8-yard touchdown up the middle before the Lions' defense took control of the game. King's Demitrius Dillard recovered two fumbles, the second of which led to a touchdown, as Windham found Quadrea Everett for a 45-yard completion, leading to Young's second touchdown of the game from 16-yards out.
The Lions' offensive line gave Windham all night to throw and the sophomore quarterback took advantage hitting Derrick Bass for a 16-yard touchdown and Reese Sturgis for a 26-yard score in the third quarter, putting the Lions up 28-6. In addition to the two fumble recoveries by Dillard, King's defense added seven-quarterback sacks as it held the Yellow Jackets' offense scoreless.
Blake (0-1) picked up a touchdown in the fourth quarter when George Tallaferro stripped the ball and returned the fumble 96 yards for a score.
