TAMPA - Junior quarterback Blake Rice led the charge for the Robinson Knights, going 8 for 17 with 143 yards passing and two touchdown passes, in a victory against Leto in the season opener for both teams.
Junior wide receiver Ruben Gonzalez had five catches and 78 yards, catching everything thrown his way. Frankie Williams had a 41-yard touchdown reception.
Robinson only ran five times in the first half but still gained 38 yards rushing and led 14-0. Running back Tim Randolph was the workhorse with 11 carries for 72 yards, and his longest run of 39 yards came in the second half along with his touchdown run. Running back Marqus Baker had four carries for 23 yards and power back Robert Smith had five carries and a 1-yard TD run plus caught a 9-yard shuffle pass.
"This was a very strong defensive performance by our guys, they are the heart and soul of the team, and we were able to take away some things that they do well," Robinson coach Mike DePue said.
