BRADENTON - Authorities say they're holding mother-and-son smugglers who were kept a man captive because his family couldn't pay them.
The FBI says a 30-year-old Guatemalan man was smuggled to Bradenton on Wednesday, but when a family member was unable to pay the smugglers, he was taken captive.
The family called police and the man was found. Fifty-three-year-old Lazara Moreira Penin and her 31-year-old son Erisbel Artiles, both of Miami, were arrested Saturday.
