The ABC Action News team at WFTS, Channel 28, is getting a new assistant news director.
Susan D'Astoli, an award-winning news producer from KNXV in Phoenix, an E.W. Scripps station, has been hired, according to a news release from WFTS.
D'Astoli has supervised specials, investigations and breaking news events. She has been involved in work that won a Peabody Award, two Edward R. Murrow Awards and 10 regional Emmys.

"We are excited to welcome Susan to WFTS-TV and the Tampa Bay community," said Doug Culver, news director at ABC Action News. "She is passionate about quality local news and information. Susan's commitment, ambition, creativity and enthusiasm will fit in with the goal of our organization to constantly build upon and evolve our already strong news brand."
"It's great to be a part of a company like Scripps that supports growing from within," D'Astoli said. "ABC Action News is a great station and I look forward to being a part of their team and helping to deliver quality, in depth and informative coverage of news in the Tampa area."
