If we can get past the political rhetoric, we might identify what the real angst is about health care reform.
Since it is obvious most everyone wants some sort of reform, why such strong protests at town hall meetings? My take is that no one outside of Washington believes that reform as proposed can be deficit neutral when you subsidize health insurance for 45 million more people.
Citizens are rightfully worried that government deficit spending is out of control. Given the huge unfunded liabilities in Medicare, Social Security, and pension obligations (federal and state), how can we add another government program to the list without corrupting the value of our currency and its negative effect on our nation's well-being?
If Washington doesn't straighten out the aforementioned programs, the country is in deep trouble any way you look at it.
