Man charged in tot's death

BROOKSVILLE - David McBurnett was charged with murder in the death of his girlfriend's 1-year-old child, left brain-dead after being beaten for crying too much, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office. Hunter Morris died today from his injuries, deputies said.
The beatings occurred between March and Thursday while the suspect, McBurnett, lived with his girlfriend, Breanna Underwood, and her son on Geronimo Street.
The child's mother told investigators McBurnett struck the child on "numerous" occasions, the report said.
In an interview Friday, McBurnett, 19, admitted the abuse and said he did it to make the child stop crying, the report said.
McBurnett was arrested Saturday and is being held without bail at the Hernando County jail.
