PLANT CITY - In a near duplication of Durant's win a week earlier, Conner Bass kicked 36- and 39-yard field goals, Antonio Morris ran in the only touchdown and the Cougar defense stifled Brandon 13-3 on Saturday.
The first half was a defensive battle with Brandon scoring the only points on a Matt Watson 37-yard field goal.
Durant took over in the second half controlling the ball for 17:07 of the first 21 minutes.
Durant's defense, which has not allowed a touchdown in its first two games, forced three second-half fumbles, grabbed two interceptions and sacked Brandon's quarterbacks three times. Josh Halferty had back-to-back sacks in the third quarter.
The only bright spot for Brandon was a drive with 2:48 left in the game. Eagle quarterback Josh Celerin completed consecutive first-down passes of 12, 13 and 36 yards, which took the team to the Durant 14. Celerin threw a pass to the end zone where safety David Claypool intercepted to thwart any comeback attempt.
A week earlier, Brandon allowed on three points to Chamberlain.
