Buccaneers need hometown fans

I attended the season opener for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday. I am a huge fan and travel 2½ hours each way to see all home games.

The most disappointing factor about the game had nothing to do with the Bucs. It was the lack of support from the hometown fans.

I park in lot 7. During tailgating, I had Dallas fans on both sides of me. I got to my seats in section 129 and once again was surrounded by blue and silver. Not once did I hear chanting for Tampa, but over and over the fans chanted, "Let's go Dallas."

To me, more disappointing than a rebuilding year for the Bucs is the apathetic fans supporting this team. Tampa, support your football franchise. Your coaches and players may respond by stepping up their game.
