NEW PORT RICHEY - The 5-year-old girl was wearing a nightgown and sneakers; the 2-year-old boy was clad only in a "very soiled diaper" and pajama shirt.
The children were found walking along Little Road about 11 a.m. Tuesday, a Pasco County sheriff's report states. A passer-by spotted them at Little and Emmons Avenue and called authorities.
The boy was covered with dirt and food and had small scrapes on his legs, but otherwise the children appeared to be in good health, the report states. About an hour later, deputies found the children's guardians nearly a half mile away at their home at 8348 Blueberry Drive.
Denay Marie Goltry, 23, and Michael A. Lentricchia, 20, were arrested on child neglect charges. Each was being held Wednesday at Land O' Lakes Jail. Bail for each was set at $500.
According to an arrest affidavit, Goltry was asleep when the children left the home.
