BRADENTON - A 4-year-old child was found wandering alone on a Bradenton street early this morning.
A man saw the child on 66th Avenue West around 2 a.m. and knocked on a few doors to try to find the child's home. He left the child with a woman who called the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The woman showed deputies where she thought the child lived, and investigators found an open gate to a privacy fence and a door standing wide open. No one was inside. The child's mother came home about 3 a.m. and was arrested for child neglect.
Candelaria Pedro-Mateo, 37, of 300 66th Ave. W., should have her first appearance in court today.
The child, who was unharmed, was turned over to Child Protection Services.
