LAKELAND - A 19-year-old man is accused of holding up a city meter worker and shooting at another meter worker.
Jermaine I. Hardy of Lakeland faces charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault with a firearm and shooting into an occupied vehicle. He already was in the Polk County Jail on unrelated charges, police said.
City worker Stephen Justice was held up Aug. 21 while working in the area of Bush Avenue and Bayview Drive, police said.
A week later, Michael S. Bryant was returning his city vehicle at 1315 W. 14th St. after completing a job assignment. As he tried to leave the vehicle, someone shot at him. The bullet traveled through the driver's-side window and hit the windshield.
