Bicycle Bash is back

The annual celebration of all things cycling returns to St. Petersburg next month.
The third annual Bicycle Bash by the Bay will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 11 at Straub Park in St. Petersburg. Thousands are expected at the annual free event, which highlights the recreational, sporting and transportation sides of cycling, says bash coordinator Alan Snel.
The festival includes a bike rodeo, free helmets and trike races, as well as information from local bike advocacy programs. A swap meet, bike rides and a bike donation station are again a part of the event. New this year is a celebration of the Youth Triathlon Series.
The event is hosted by the Southwest Florida Bicycle United Dealers, a consortium of bike retailers in the Tampa Bay area.
