TAMPA - A 34-year-old Riverview man has been charged with child abuse after investigators say he beat his daughter with a belt and shaved her head for misbehaving.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Jose Ajpacaja-Ajiataz was angry at his daughter because she had stolen jewelry from Walmart and used a video game without his permission.
As punishment, he beat the girl and later shaved her head, investigators say.
The sheriff's office report said Ajpacaja-Ajiataz admitted to shaving his daughter's head but denied beating the girl, whose age was not disclosed.
Ajpacaja-Ajiataz, a roofer, was arrested Wednesday and charged with physical and mental abuse, a felony. He was released Thursday, according to deputies.
