Florida State-BYU capsule

Published: September 19, 2009

FLORIDA STATE AT NO. 7 BYU
KICKOFF: 7 p.m.; LaVell Edwards Stadium, Provo, Utah

RECORDS: FSU 1-1; BYU 2-0

TV/RADIO: Versus/1040 AM and 1470 AM

NEED TO KNOW: Whereas Florida State QB Christian Ponder has gotten off to a fast start (career highs in passing yards in each of the first two games), the Noles' ground attack is averaging only 94 yards per outing. ... BYU has allowed only 16 points this season, including 13 against an Oklahoma offense that set an NCAA record for points in 2008. ... BYU QB Max Hall threw for 329 yards against Oklahoma and followed that with a 309-yard effort against Tulane. ... The Noles will need to pressure Hall - a daunting task considering BYU's massive offensive line - if they hope to spoil the Cougars' home opener. Dekoda Watson had 3.5 of FSU's seven sacks last week against Jacksonville State. ... FSU leads the all-time series 2-0.
