The body of a boater was found in a Polk County lake early this morning more than 24 hours after the canoe he was in capsized, pitching him and two others into the water.
The canoe overturned about 7 p.m. Saturday in a lake behind a home on Dunkirk Court in Lakeland, Polk County sheriff's deputies said.
Steven Boyles, 23, and his 21-year-old sister, Sherry, made it to shore, but Chase Michael Breckenridge-Crawley, 20, did not, deputies said.
Deputies began a search Saturday night and continued throughout the weekend. The body of the missing boater was found about 2 a.m. today, deputies said.
Breckenridge-Crawley lived on Farrington Drive in Lakeland with Steven and Sherry Boyles.
Deputies said the investigation is continuing.
