TAMPA - With the flu season 10 days away and swine flu casualties continuing to mount, health officials are trying to make prevention as easy as possible.
Vaccines are available at drugstores and other healthcentric locations and soon will be delivered at senior centers and community buildings across Hillsborough County.
Add Tampa International Airport to the list. Beginning Oct. 1, the airport will open kiosks delivering antiserum to fight the spread of the virus.
Kelly Figley, spokeswoman for TIA, said five kiosks will be set up on the first day of the official flu season. They initially will offer only the standard influenza shots, not inoculations against swine flu, she said.
"We don't have that at this point," she said. "If it comes available, we may offer it here."
The kiosks will administer inoculations through Nov. 30, she said. Kiosks will be at each of the four airsides, with the fifth one on the third floor of the main terminal. Passengers will be charged $35 a shot, she said.
The kiosks will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
