TAMPA - A broken water main has been repaired at Dale Mabry Highway and Bay to Bay Boulevard, allowing workers to begin road restoration later today.
The intersection remains closed this morning, a day after water main break caused part of the road to buckle.
Police have closed Dale Mabry between Empedrado and Santiago streets, and Bay to Bay between Church and Sterling avenues. Drivers are being detoured through residential streets in this area.
As soon as the site is set up for restoration, limited traffic flow will be reopened on Dale Mabry, the Tampa Water Department said in a news release. No timetable was given on when the roads would reopen.
After the water main break, softened ground forced workers to stabilize a utility poll by tying it to a crane. Officials were worried the pole – about twice the size of a normal traffic-light pole – could topple.
