SPRING HILL An employee at a doctor's office is accused of using her position to call in painkiller prescriptions for herself.
The suspect, Kimberly McGivern, spoke with a detective Monday after authorities were tipped off by the office of Dr. Vincent Alia on Northcliffe Boulevard.
McGivern reportedly admitted to twice using another employee's name to call a pharmacy and order prescription medication. The suspect, who was hired in August, told the detective that she later picked up the prescription hydrocodone and Xanax, according to a report.
The doctor confirmed that he did not order the medication and surveillance images from the pharmacy showed McGivern picking up the drugs on Aug. 21 and Sept. 3, a report states.
Following her arrest Tuesday on a charge of obtaining a controlled substance through fraud, McGivern surrendered the drugs in her purse, a report states. The detective counted 11 hydrocodone pills and further charged McGivern, 33, of 10356 Hemlock St., with drug trafficking.
