TAMPA - Thursday's volleyball match between the Academy of the Holy Names and Bayshore Christian had no bearing on either team's district record, but the visiting Faith Warriors treated it as if a trip to the postseason was on the line.
Bayshore (7-2) rallied after losing Game 1 to defeat its neighborhood rival, 19-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-17.
Sophomore outside hitter Gabby Fernandez led the Faith Warriors with 24 kills and 19 digs, while sophomore Amanda Mirabella finished with 20 digs and 41 assists.
"We always struggle with the first game," Fernandez said. "Today, we played a good game."
BERKELEY PREMIER: The tournament begins today at 3 p.m. and resumes at 8 a.m. Saturday, followed by the championship rounds.
