TAMPA - A 21-year-old Tampa woman wildly fired a handgun three to four times in the direction of her brother-in-law and nieces this morning, Hillsborough deputies say.
Charges against Ashley Santana include two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated child abuse and three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.
This morning, Santana became enraged at her live-in boyfriend and asked a friend to kill him, an arrest report states.
Santana was babysitting her nieces, and when her brother-in-law came to retrieve the children, Santana pointed the gun at his face and threatened to kill him if he didn't show her where her boyfriend was, the report states. He fled with his children, and she fired at him as he and the children rode from the scene at a high rate of speed, the sheriff's office said.
When deputies arrived at her home on College Park Court, she ran but was caught a half mile away, deputies say.
She was placed in a cruiser. On the way to the jail, she kicked out the cruiser's window and fled about a quarter mile away, where she was caught, deputies say.
