I have four children in the Hillsborough County public school system. When my first two children were in elementary school a few years ago, I found out that schools no longer taught writing etiquette or cursive.
I have now been told that spelling will no longer be taught because the Hillsborough County School Board has adopted a "SpringBoard" curriculum that favors computer education and that spell check is available.
What are we doing to our future leaders? We can be adaptable and teach new curriculum, but don't take away the basics.
How can this country compete when the basics are removed?
