DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - The father of a suburban Philadelphia woman who faked her own abduction and fled with her daughter to Disney World has been ordered to stand trial in connection with a scuffle with TV cameramen.
Doylestown District Judge Philip Daly ruled Friday that there is enough evidence for 66-year-old William Siner of Milton, Del., to stand trial on charges of disorderly conduct and two counts of simple assault. Daly dismissed one count of simple assault, and defense attorney Robert Mancini indicated that he found that encouraging.
Authorities say Siner attacked three TV cameramen on Aug. 27 after Bonnie Sweeten pleaded guilty to charges of identity theft and making false reports to police. The incident was captured on video.
Mancini has said Siner had felt harassed by news organizations. One cameraman said he missed nearly a month of work and another said he is still taking medication and undergoing physical therapy.
