Two more swine flu-related deaths have been reported in Hillsborough County.
A 47-year-old woman died Sept. 16, and a 39-year-old man died Sunday. The woman had underlying medical conditions, the county health department said, while the man did not. They are the seventh and eighth people to die in Hillsborough County whose deaths were linked to swine flu.
Officials say nearly all of the influenza cases in the county are from the swine flu virus.
Swine flu cases are defined as having fever greater than 100 degrees Fahrenheit with sore throat or cough. Other symptoms include body aches, headache, vomiting, and diarrhea.
People who think they have the flu should remain home until they are fever- and symptom-free for 24 hours without a persistent cough.
The Florida Department of Health has a toll-free number to provide public health information and updates on swine flu. The information line is available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. The number is 1-877-352-3581.
