CLEARWATER - The Berkeley Prep Buccaneers came into Friday's game against the Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders knowing they had to establish the running game to be effective in the district rivalry game. They accomplished just that in a big victory.
The Buccaneers' running attack was led by sophomore running back Nelson Agholor, who rushed for 119 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries. Agholor also had a strong defensive game, returning an interception 65 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.
The Marauders (2-2, 1-1) were never able to get anything started due to the Buccaneers' defensive line, gaining only 1 yard rushing and giving up two turnovers in the first half. The Marauders did score late in both halves, Eric Miller finding Nick Newton for an 11-yard pass in the second quarter and Richard Gornik on a 15-yard completion in the fourth.
The Buccaneers (2-2, 1-0) will play host against non-district Hudson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday while the Marauders have a bye.
