GIBSONTON - East Bay's strategy - don't give up the big play and don't turn the ball over - worked about as good as it possibly could, ending in a victory over visiting Brandon.
In the end, Brandon (1-3) racked up a good deal of yards (297), but too often turned the ball over with four interceptions and a lost fumble.
On the other side, East Bay (3-1) totaled 183 yards, yet turned the ball over only once - on a fumble in the first quarter.
"Yes, that's exactly how we had to do it in order to win," East Bay coach Brian Thornton said. "I really don't know if we could have done it any other way."
Brandon put a scare into the Indians in the final five minutes, scoring a touchdown, and then with 4:31 left on the clock, recovering an onside kick on East Bay's 45-yard line.
But with 3:08 remaining, the Eagles ended their rally on an interception in the end zone by East Bay's DeAndre Reddick.
Calvin Sanders also had two interceptions, and on the offensive side, D.J. Richmond led the way with 16 carries for 139 yards, including a 6-yard touchdown run.
