TAMPA - Freedom held Gaither to 149 yards as the Patriots pulled off a solid win at home against the Cowboys.
The Pats blew the game open when quarterback Tyler Guy passed to Amonty Dellsca for a 25-yard touchdown with 9:37 remaining in the game. The score increased Freedom's lead to 23-6. Guy led the Patriots with 127 yards passing, including the touchdown pass to Dellsca. He also picked up 59 yards on the ground as well as a rushing touchdown with 7 seconds left in the first half.
The win improved Freedom's record to 2-1 and dropped Gaither to 1-2.
Gaither's first score came with 2:12 left in the third quarter when Zach Condon found Chadd Pierson in the end zone for a 3-yard touchdown pass.
Freedom displayed special teams firepower with two long returns, one for a touchdown. Robert Lohnes showed great elusiveness when he returned a Cowboys punt 41 yards for a touchdown with 10:57 left in the third quarter. T.J. Mutcherson returned a kickoff 59 yards, setting up Guy's touchdown pass to Dellsca.
Gaither scored with 1:36 left in the game when Condon hit Shug Oyegunle for a 42-yard touchdown pass, but the onside kick attempt was recovered by the Patriots.
